Lampaul Plouarzel Surf Stats

This chart shows the combination of swells directed at Lampaul Plouarzel through a typical July. It is based on 3720 NWW3 model predictions since 2006 (values every 3 hours). The wave model does not forecast wind or surf right at the coast so we have chosen the optimum grid node based on what we know about Lampaul Plouarzel. In the case of Lampaul Plouarzel, the best grid node is 17 km away (11 miles). The rose diagram describes the distribution of swell sizes and directions, while the graph at the bottom shows the same thing but lacks direction information. Five colours show increasing wave sizes. Because the wave model grid is away from the coast, sometimes a strong offshore wind blows largest waves away from Lampaul Plouarzel and out to sea.
