Distant view of a surfer coming around the point at Cable Bay taken from the boulder bank. Smaller waves like this one were easier to pick as bigger set waves broke wide.

| Rob Davies | Gary, with all respect the main point of this site isn't to show photos of great waves. Plenty of other sources do that already. This is primarily a forecasting site and what Nelson surfers might find interesting is how the surf compared with the forecast at the time. It gives a fair indication of how 2.2m of 9s period NNW swell looked at Cable Bay. Next time similar conditions are forecast we will know roughly what to expect and even this crappy photo is far better than just reporting my opinion of how big or good it was. |
