Derde Steen in Western Cape is a fairly exposed beach break that has reasonably consistent surf. Summer offers the best conditions for surfing. Offshore winds are from the east northeast. Clean groundswells prevail and the optimum swell angle is from the southwest. The beach breaks offer lefts and rights. When the surf is up, it can get quite busy in the water. Surfing here means negotiating dangerous rips.
