Whatarangi Station Surf Guide
Whatarangi Station in The Wairarapa is a reasonably exposed reef break that has quite reliable surf, although summer tends to be mostly flat. Offshore winds are from the northeast and there is no shelter here from cross shore breezes. Easily blown out by onshore winds Windswells and groundswells in equal measure and the ideal swell direction is from the south. There is no reef break. The quality of the surf isn't affected by the tide. Even when there are waves, it's not likley to be crowded. Take care to avoid the rocks.
